Say goodbye to awkward framing! Alphana's new AI Auto Crop feature automatically detects the main speakers in your video and intelligently repositions or reframes them for optimized layouts. Whether you’re converting a video for a vertical or square format, AI Auto Crop ensures your speakers stay in focus, providing a polished, professional look on any platform.

How AI Auto Crop works

AI Auto Crop detects the main speakers in your video and dynamically reframes them to ensure they stay in focus. It automatically switches between focusing on a single speaker or adapting the frame for multiple speakers, based on who is speaking.

Steps to use AI Auto Crop

  1. Upload your video or audio file
Start by uploading your video or audio file to Alphana, or by adding a YouTube link.

  2. Select a template or AI card
Choose a template or AI card to generate content from your file, then click "Next" to proceed.

  3. Access the Auto Crop feature
Once you create a project or return to an existing one, go to one of your video clip AI cards, expand it, and near the Download button, you'll see an option for Fit, Fill, and Auto. Select Auto.

  4. Select aspect ratio
Choose the aspect ratio: Vertical (9:16) or Square (1:1).

  5. Initiate download
Click Download to start AI rendering. The video will automatically download once it's done. This could take a few minutes depending on the length of the video. Don't leave the page while rendering.

  6. Captions (optional)
Optional: You can also add captions to the video. If enabled, you'll receive an email once the clip is ready. Adding captions might increase rendering time slightly.

AI credits and usage

Using AI Auto Crop will consume AI credits. Each time you click Download after rendering, credits will be deducted. For more details, see our AI Credits Guide.

Download restrictions and rendering details

Each AI Auto Crop session includes one video download. If you need to download the cropped video again, credits will be deducted again.

When to use AI Auto Crop vs Fit vs Fill

  • AI Auto Crop: Use this to dynamically reframe speakers, especially when there are multiple speakers and you want them to stay in focus.

  • Fit: Use this to ensure the full video is visible within the frame (black bars are added as needed). This option is ideal when you want to maintain the original video without cropping.

  • Fill: Use this when there is only one speaker who remains centered throughout the video. The video will be zoomed in to fill the frame, which may result in slight cropping at the edges.
