Understanding AI Credits

AI credits measure the resources you use when creating content with our platform. Each activity, such as creating video clips, generating images, extracting thumbnails, or processing words, consumes a certain number of credits.

Here's a detailed breakdown of how credits are allocated for various tasks.

Activity

Credits per Item

Example Usage on Pro Plan

Video Clips (per min)

3 credits

60 video clips (1 min each)

Extracting Thumbnails

0.5 credits

240 thumbnails

AI Images

8 credits

30 AI images

Transcription Minutes

0.5 credits

900 minutes

1000 Input Tokens

0.5 credits

187,200 tokens (140,400 words)

1000 Output Tokens

1.5 credits

277,333 tokens (208,000 words)

Understanding Input versus Output tokens

We calculate credits based on the total length of the input and output. For example, if you provide a long video transcript and ask for a short summary, credits are based on the long input and short output. If you add a short video transcript and ask AI to generate 20 pieces of content cards, credits depend on the short input and long output. When both input and output are long, their combined length determines the total credits used.

Understanding video transcript Lengths

When you upload a video for transcription, the length of the video determines the number of words and tokens generated. This also affects the number of AI credits used. Here’s an example breakdown (actual credit usage may vary):

Video Length

How many pieces of content can I create with 1500 credits?

With 1500 credits, you can create a variety of content. For example, you could generate:

  • 60 video clips (60-second clips)

  • 30 AI images

  • 240 thumbnail extractions

  • 300-900 minutes of transcription (depending on your plan limit)

  • Process up to 140,400 words of input text (roughly 187,200 tokens)

  • Generate up to 208,000 words of output text (roughly 277,333 tokens)

Your usage may vary depending on your needs. Some users might prioritize video content over text, while others may focus more on text generation. For example, if you need 200 video clips, you might use fewer thumbnails and generate less text content.

How AI Credits work

  1. Video Clips: Editing a long video into smaller clips. Ideal for breaking down longer videos into bite-sized content. Each 60-second clip uses 3 credits.

  2. Thumbnails: Extracting thumbnails from videos. Perfect for creating attractive thumbnails for video content. Each thumbnail uses 0.5 credits.

  3. AI Images: Generating high-quality images. Great for visual content to accompany your posts. Each image uses 8 credits.

  4. Transcriptions: Converting audio/video into text. Useful for transcribing podcasts, webinars or interviews. Each minute uses 0.5 credits.

  5. Input Tokens: Processing text input and transcripts for AI analysis. Each 1000 tokens (approx. 750 words) use 0.5 credits.

  6. Output Tokens: Generating text output from AI. Each 1000 tokens (approx. 750 words) use 1.5 credits.

Tracking AI credits and handling negative balances

AI credits are tracked in real-time for each activity. If you try to generate content and have enough credits to start, the process will proceed even if the total credits needed exceed your balance. This may result in a negative balance. When you upgrade your plan or purchase more credits, the negative balance will be deducted first, and any remaining credits will be added to your account. Otherwise, your credits will reset monthly on your purchase date.

Rounding up credit usage

For activities such as transcription, credits are rounded up to the nearest minute. For example, a transcript that is 31 minutes and 30 seconds long will be charged as 32 minutes, consuming 16 credits (0.5 credits per minute).

Handling credit deductions for non-logged-in users on published pages

When a user shares a public link to their video project, non-logged-in users who access the published page may duplicate or download content. In these cases, credits will be deducted from the account of the content owner. Non-logged-in users will be prompted to log in, while only the content owner will be asked to upgrade if their credits are fully consumed.

How to get more AI credits

If you run out of AI credits, the only way to get more at the moment is by upgrading your plan. We’re planning to add an option to purchase additional AI credits directly through our platform later this year, and we’re still working out the details. In the meantime, remember that your AI credits renew every 30 days from the date you purchased Alphana.

If you run out of AI credits and can’t wait until the renewal period, please reach out to us through the support chat, and we’ll do our best to help you.

When do AI credits renew?

Your AI credits renew every 30 days from the date you purchased Alphana. This means you’ll have a fresh set of AI credits available each month on your renewal date.

Do AI credits roll over?

AI credits do not roll over. Instead, they reset every 30 days from your purchase date. This means that any unused AI credits will be cleared at the end of your billing cycle, and you’ll start each month with a fresh set of AI credits.
