What's New in Visuals
A short clip stretched across a whole song always gave itself away. Every time it reached the end and started over, you saw the jump.
This release adds Bounce, a way of repeating a clip that never cuts. It's now a choice everywhere you build a lyric video.
Your loops don't jump anymore
Here's the problem Bounce solves.
Your song is minutes long. Your clip is seconds long. So the clip has to repeat, over and over, for the whole track. And every time it repeats, the video snaps from the last frame back to the first. Those two frames don't match, so you see a small jolt. Once you notice it, you can't stop noticing it.
Bounce fixes that. Instead of jumping back to the start, the clip plays forward, then plays backward, then forward again. It never cuts, because it never has to. The turnaround is eased, so the change of direction is smooth instead of abrupt. It just breathes.
You now pick this yourself with a Loop Style setting. 3 choices: Standard, Loop, and Bounce. Bounce is the new one, and it's the one that gets rid of the jump.
It's there in all 4 places you can start a lyric video: Album Cover, Spotify Canvas, Custom Scene, and Library.
Bounce actually bounces now
Bounce existed before this, but it didn't always do what it said. In several places, picking Bounce quietly gave you a plain loop instead, jump and all. In Spotify Canvas it was worse: the clip played through once and then froze, and only a page refresh brought it back.
Both are fixed, in every place you can pick it.
When a bounce isn't possible
Not every clip can be played in reverse.
When one can't, you get a plain loop and a short message telling you why. No more guessing at a result you didn't ask for. And where Bounce can't apply to a clip at all, the option isn't shown to you. Better to leave it out than to offer it and ignore it.
A few things in My Library
Clear out a folder faster. Select several items in a folder or a collection and remove them all at once, instead of one at a time.
Shared folders keep their shape. Share a folder or a collection and the person you send it to sees the folders inside it, not one flat pile.
Hover to watch. Videos shared with you now play when you hover over them.
Also fixed
Downloading an export works again. Export a video, download it, play it back. All 3 steps are reliable again, and the file keeps the name you expect.
Long exports finish. Very long projects used to stop partway through and never come back. They run all the way to the end now.
Smoother preview playback. Playing back your work in the video editor is smoother.
Video uploads analyze more reliably. When you upload a video, the analysis that runs on it fails less often, and one that stalls now retries on its own instead of giving up.
