With Alphana's Transcript Editor, you can easily edit your video or audio transcripts, including speaker names, before generating AI content. This tool helps you refine your transcripts and improve captions on short video clips, making it simpler to correct errors and enhance your content before further content creation.

This guide will help you generate, edit, and manage transcripts effectively, ensuring accuracy and customization in your content.

How to generate a transcript in Alphana

  1. Upload your video or audio file
Start by uploading your video or audio file to Alphana.

  2. Select a template or AI card
Choose a template or AI card to generate content from your file, then click "Next" to proceed.

  3. Choose to edit transcript
After selecting a template, you'll be prompted to edit the transcript before generating the content. The default option is "Yes." If you don't need to edit, select "No" and click "Generate."

  4. Transcript editing page
If you select "Yes," you'll be taken to the transcript page where, once the transcript is generated, you can start editing.

How to edit and manage a transcript in Alphana

  1. Editing Words

    • Double-click any word to modify it. You can also highlight a word, and a dropdown menu will appear with options like "Edit Word," "Delete," "Copy Timestamps," or "Copy Text."

  2. Copy Text

    • Select the text you want, then click "Copy Text" to copy the raw text you highlighted. This will only copy the raw transcript without speakers or timestamps.

  3. Copy Timestamps

    • Select "Copy Timestamps" from the dropdown menu. This includes milliseconds to ensure accuracy. This is particularly useful for creating clips using the Clips AI card.

  4. Delete Text

    • Delete multiple words or paragraphs as needed. The AI will skip deleted segments when automatically generating clips. However, if you explicitly request clips using specific deleted timestamps, those clips will still be generated.

  5. Edit Speaker Names

    • At the top of the transcript page, you will see speaker icons labeled "Speaker 0," "Speaker 1," etc. Click on a speaker icon to edit their name. Changes will reflect throughout the entire transcript.

Regenerating AI cards after transcript edits

  • Regenerate AI Cards Individually
If you edit the transcript, you need to regenerate each AI card individually to reflect the changes. Click the "Regenerate" button on each card to update it.

  • Editing Captions in Clips
To edit the captions of videos you create, edit the main transcript first. Then, regenerate the clips to see the updated captions (note: this only works for individual word edits).

Reasons to edit or delete parts of the transcript

  • Correcting Mistakes: Fix misspellings or incorrect words that the AI may have picked up inaccurately.

  • Clarifying Terms: Modify complex terms to simpler alternatives to ensure clarity.

  • Removing Irrelevant Content: Delete sections like sponsorship ads or parts of a conversation you do not want the AI to use for content generation.

  • Editing Speaker Information: Update speaker names for better accuracy and clarity throughout the transcript.

  • Improving Content Focus: Remove unrelated or unnecessary sections, such as off-topic discussions, to ensure the AI generates more relevant content.

Key features of transcript editing

  • Word-by-Word Editing: Modify individual words for improved accuracy.

  • Delete or Replace Text: Delete or replace parts of the transcript easily.

  • Edit Speaker Names: Update speaker names, with changes reflected throughout the transcript.

  • Copy Text or Timestamps: Copy selected text or timestamps for use in content creation or external applications.

Important notes

  • Regenerating a Transcript
Regenerating a transcript will overwrite your edits, restoring the original version. Regenerating also consumes additional AI credits.

  • Editing Limitations
You cannot edit multiple words at the same time. Each word must be edited individually to maintain timestamp accuracy for clip generation.
