By default a lyric video starts with Visuals listening to the song and working out both the words and their timings. That is reliable on a clean lead vocal. It is less reliable on ad-libs, stacked vocals, slang, or a song in another language.
If you already have the words, give them to us. There are 2 ways.
Upload a timed lyrics file
Accepted: SRT or LRC, the 2 standard file types for subtitles and lyrics.
Transcription is skipped entirely. Your timings are used exactly as they are. Nothing is re-guessed and nothing drifts.
Use this when the timing is the part you care about most, or when the timings already exist.
Paste lyrics and use Magic Align
Paste the plain words with no timings, and Magic Align matches them to the song.
Visuals is still listening to the track, but it is no longer guessing at the words. It knows exactly what is sung and only has to work out when. That means:
Ad-libs stay ad-libs
A second language stays in that language
Names stay spelled the way you spell them
Use this when all you have is the words.
Two things to know
If you paste lyrics and then upload a timed file instead, the pasted text is discarded. The two cannot both control your timings.
Pasting lyrics starts the alignment on its own.
Fixing timings by hand
The lyrics and captions editor gives you a waveform timeline with every word as a draggable pill at its exact timestamp.
Drag a pill's edges to change when a word starts or ends
Drag its middle to move the word
Click any word to preview that segment and open a timing editor with its own mini timeline
Skip forward or back 15 seconds with the transport controls
Zoom with the scroll wheel, the slider, or Cmd+= and Cmd+-
Use find and replace to correct the same word everywhere
Edit speaker names on multi speaker content
You can also upload SRT, VTT, or JSON here to override the AI captions, and revert to the original transcription later, even after closing and reopening the editor.

The lyric video flow takes SRT or LRC.
The lyrics and captions editor takes SRT, VTT, or JSON.
