My Styles saves a text or caption look once so you can use it everywhere, instead of rebuilding your font, color, and spacing on every project.
Saving a style
Two ways:
Open the text or caption style panel and save from there
Right click a clip on the timeline and choose Save style
You name it as you save it.
Using one
Saved styles appear as preview cards next to the built in template libraries, at the top of the list. One search box covers both your styles and the built in templates.
Applying a style to a clip that is already placed changes only the look. Position, size, and duration stay as they are.
The two toggles on a text style
When you save a text style you get:
Remember position
Save duration
Both are on by default. They only matter when you drag the style onto the timeline as a new element, in which case it lands in the same spot and at the same length as the clip it was saved from. Applying to an existing clip still only changes the look.
Caption styles save the look only.
It travels across aspect ratios
A style built in 9:16 works in a 16:9 video. Font sizes and spacing scale down so text does not overflow its box.
Copy and paste a look
Right click any timeline clip for 4 options:
Copy copies the whole clip
Copy style copies just how it looks
Paste drops the copied clip onto the timeline
Paste style puts the copied look onto the clip you right clicked
Cmd or Ctrl + C and V work too. The clipboard carries across projects, so you can copy a clip in one composition and paste it into another. Paste style only appears when the copied look actually fits the clip you are pointing at.
Storage and limits
Styles live in your account, not your browser. Sign in on any device and they are there.
Up to 200 styles.
Two people signing in on the same machine keep separate styles and separate clipboards.
Styles saved before this feature shipped were brought over automatically.
Deleting
Click the X, then confirm on Delete?. Two steps, on purpose.
