What happens while a file uploads
On the canvas the card appears immediately and previews straight off your own disk. You can see it, move it, and connect it while the file goes up. When it is ready the card swaps to the real asset in place, so nothing you did in the meantime is lost.
If the upload fails, the card is removed and the message names the file.
The Run button stays off while anything is still uploading or processing, and it tells you which file it is waiting on.
Long videos
A long file, like a 2 hour podcast, has several things happening after the upload: encoding, transcription, and content analysis. A few rules:
A video you can play is a video you can use. If it plays, you can drag it, click it, and build with it. The badge stays and names what is still running.
Transcripts arrive early. Transcription does not wait for the largest version of your file. On uploads under the size ceiling it starts from your own file while the video is still processing, so the wait is roughly the upload rather than the encode.
Content analysis has a 2 hour ceiling. A longer video is marked as skipped in seconds, not failed after half an hour. The upload worked, the video plays, and the transcript is unaffected.
Photos from a phone
Portrait photos taken on a phone keep their orientation. They will not come back sideways.
On iPhone and iPad
Tapping to add a song or a video works. If nothing opened for you in the past, that was a bug and it is fixed.
If something gets stuck
Uploads recover on their own when something goes wrong, and uploads that were left half finished in the past have been repaired. Go back and look at any song or video that never came out the other side.
A stalled generation is picked up and cleared automatically.
If a video shows as unavailable on the canvas, the canvas retries on its own while it finishes processing. A page refresh is not needed.
