The video editor is the timeline. What you build there is a composition, and it lives in My Library under Studio alongside your flows and projects.
Use it when you need frame level control, captions with their own styles, voiceovers, or a longer edit. For a quick assembly of clips already on your canvas, the Compose Video card is faster.
Getting clips in
Select clips in My Library and send them into a new composition in one step
In any media panel, tick several clips, preview them, drag them into order, and drop them into the timeline at the playhead in one go
Working on the timeline
Zoom controls sit in the play bar. Zooming keeps your place, so you come back to the spot you were working on
Marquee select overlays by dragging a box around several, then delete them together
Arrow keys nudge a selected overlay a little at a time, for precise alignment
Right click a clip for Copy, Copy style, Paste, and Paste style. Cmd or Ctrl + C and V work too, and the clipboard carries across projects
Swapping media in a template
Click the clip you want to change and swap your own footage in without taking the template apart. Replace Selected swaps several at once, Use full length restores a trimmed clip to its original length, and your captions stay lined up.
Transitions
Crossfades overlap the clips for real, so the blend looks like a blend rather than dipping to black in the middle.
Captions and text
Caption presets are straight by default. If you add a tilt and then remove it, it comes off properly
Save a look with My Styles and reuse it anywhere
Lyric captions have their own 4 part system: layouts, motions, container motions, and exits
Fonts include Josefin Sans and Josefin Slab, with a Josefin Impact caption preset
Voiceovers
You can create voiceovers directly in the video editor, using OpenAI, Gemini, or ElevenLabs voices.
New song and voiceover volume defaults to 100%. It used to default to 80%, which made finished videos sound thin.
Ken Burns and reframing
Ken Burns is the slow push in on a still image. It no longer fades the first clip up from black or the last clip out to black
Intelligent Reframing is off by default when you pick clips from your library, so clips you chose deliberately are left alone
Videos do not loop by default, and the final clip trims to fit the total duration
Saving
Unsaved edits save automatically when you leave the page or close the tab. Switching between 2 compositions no longer overwrites the one you just left.
